Overlaying Perfection - Trees - V McGarvey cc-by 2026
My anarchic collage V McGarvey cc-by 2026
Collage is a technique of art creation, primarily used in the visual arts, by which art results from an assembly of different forms, thus creating a new whole.
For nearly a year now, I have been attending a group called Wonder Women, a peer support group just for women. It involves women in two activities: creative arts and gardening. And I have discovered over time that I like both. My affinity for gardening came immediately, but making art has been a gradual development. Today I created a collage, inspired by my walk there.
My Anarchic Collage
This morning I walked among the trees,
(My photo image cannily hides the road beside.)
Overlaying bark, branches and trunks,
Assembling different forms to an observer's eye.
It is not tidy, it is chaotic,
Without constraint, anarchic thicket.
Messy, but for me, perfection is this nature's site.
My weekly Wonder Women session was the purpose of my urban amble.
Welcoming warm coffee and company, we were set to creative work.
"Anarchic collage", the challenge of our endeavour.
Table strewn with a confection of stamps, paper, pens, card, fabric...
For use on blank canvases, for us to convey what?
I think,
My mind is an anarchic collage,
Cluttered, competing words, confused phrases
Affirmation, degradation,
Confused imagery,
Order, disorder
You: "Are you good at art?"
Me: "No, I'm not creative, I think I have an eye for art"
(What does it mean? "good at art")
Collage like anarchy, no controlling rules to impose order,
Taking different forms through assembling,
Material, your choice, materially your choice,
Classic art principles are out here.
Overlaying, like trees and branches
In my earlier observed scene,
My collage.
Botanical ink stamp designs, cramped on white card.
It's pretty, but this is no collage, I need to assemble.
Failed printed letters can be hidden now by layered emerald tissue.
Parakeet shade backing, it is framed,
but this is following the rules, no rules here.
No edges, no symmetry,
Completion, a mossy perimeter.
Is this an anarchic collage?
Are we an anarchic collage?
