White, Purple and Green, not the colours of a football team, but suffrage "we are the women",
Our purity and moral justice are wrapped in white, with purple for dignity, and hope bound by green.
Old fashioned it may be but "we are the women",
We are Spring's crocuses, white and purple pushing through the sodden green,
Mothers, sisters, daughters, cousins, nieces, friends,
I could go on and on, all women, who rage and rage, with beauty, pushing through to be seen.
Rallying together, "we are women we are strong",
Sing it loud, sing it proud, battle-scarred but not battle worn,
We push and push renewed and rooted,
Encouraging and giving way to more blossoms, come we have more room for you.
Just one day, where we have permission to shine and dance around our hashtags?
No.
No need to "just" annually push our way through the media terra, gasping for air, waiting to be picked,
We are grounded, we are anchored, we are nourished.
Oh yes,
There will be more white, purple and green, as sure as there will be a Spring.
